Editorial

Here is presenting a new look site erstwhile known as a virtual sea of different streams of cultural heritage, it is not easy to describe different facets of Assam in generalized terms. 

In the fore, of late, has been the question “Who is an Assamese’’? In the backdrop of the recent trend of assertion of sub-national groups of their own distinctive identities, debates and controversies are on pertaining to the definition of the term Assamese. We are, meanwhile, taking liberty of terming the people residing in the geographical area of Assam with roots firmly ingrained in the land with a sense of belonging, as the Assamese people.  

Our effort through this venture is to present different aspects of Assamese life to the world community. Not an easy task, I assure you dear browser. It is an infinite storehouse of legacy, culture, heritage, and wealth out here in Assam. Still we dare, driven by sheer love for this land and its wonderful people. We may be ambitious, but certainly we do not claim to know it all. We have taken help from different individuals, books and websites in preparing this site. We beg indulgence to all concerned if we have failed to acknowledge. We are extremely grateful to all from whom we have benefited.
